Where "Once upon a time" begins with YOU
Step 1: We receive your order and look over all of the information provided to make sure we have everything we need.
** Please be sure to inform us of specific items (clothing, colors, etc...) you would like or NOT like to be included in your story at this time.
Step 2: Once we have all of the information and are completely surrounded by it (sometimes literally), we will write - and probably erase a bit (okay sometimes a lot) - and write some more until we feel that we have a story for you. The writing process takes about 1-5 days.
Step 3: Your story is completed and emailed to you for approval. Please request changes at this time. We encourage your ideas, suggestions, and input.
Step 4: Yay! Your story has been approved by you! Now it is time to start the illustrations. Your story and any illustration ideas are forwarded on to one of our fabulous illustrators and they begin their magic. The illustration process takes anywhere from 3-5 weeks. Feel free to contact us for updates on your book anytime during this period.
Step 5: Happy Day! Your illustrations are complete and have been sent back to the writer for approval. Your illustrations are reviewed to make sure they are the perfect fit for your story. This is one of our favorite steps - we love seeing everything come together!
PLEASE NOTE: This is a creative process and product, and our illustrators are driven by their talent and creativity. While we honor your book requests submitted when placing your order, we prefer not to show the illustrations until they are finalized and the text has been added. You will be allowed to request a maximum of 2 minor illustration changes if you are not happy with something in your book. If necessary, more illustration changes can be made for an additional cost of $15 per revision.
Step 6: Now it is time to add the text. Much time is spent on finding the perfect font as well as font placement for each page.
Step 7: Your images are ready to be previewed by YOU! We will convert them, re-size them, create a slideshow, post it on our site, and then send you the link. This is where you will review them and let us know of any minor illustration changes you would like made.
Step8: We are almost done! Once you have approved your book we will prepare your images for print - re-size, upload, preview, finalize, double check, and triple check.
Step9: PRINT! Your storybook is in the works and will be mailed to us within 7-10 days. Once we receive your book we will look it over and make sure everything looks as perfect as it should. Now it is our turn to mail it to you.
Step10: IT'S YOURS! You've received it in the mail. You can't put it down. Your kids beg you to read it over and over, and you can't go to bed at night unless it is by your side. (Okay maybe not that last part.)
